Lab Operations Manager

The ideal candidate will be a detail-oriented, self-motivated Laboratory Operations Manager that will oversee all day-to-day operations of our laboratories at our Lexington, MA site. This individual will provide all necessary laboratory administration and technical support to our scientific staff to facilitate the discovery and development of life-saving therapeutics.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage vendor services including LN2, CO2, N2, dry ice, lab coat ordering and laundering, chemical/biological waste removal, and janitorial services
  • Work with consulting safety officer to 1) establish and enforce safety and emergency policies, 2) maintain and acquire all necessary permitting, 3) manage waste and chemical inventories
  • Conduct laboratory orientation and annual safety training for all lab personnel
  • Perform regular general laboratory safety inspections including testing of emergency showers and eyewash stations
  • Maintain laboratory supply inventory and distribute supplies throughout the laboratories as needed
  • Manage Cyteir’s compound repository
  • Coordinate all incoming and outgoing shipments and deliver packages to scientific staff
  • Establish equipment monitoring program including preventative maintenance, service agreements, calibration, cleaning, repair, and new equipment installation
  • Maintain BSL2 tissue culture laboratories including maintenance/certification and cleaning of CO2 incubators, water baths, and BSCs
  • Establish and oversee monitoring programs for temperature-controlled units and attend to all alarms
  • Serve as the point of contact for landlord and contractors for any facility renovations and repairs
  • Wash glassware and autoclave materials as needed
  • Act in accordance with all Cyteir Therapeutics policies and be a positive contributor to company culture

Job Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in biological sciences or other technical field. Consideration will be given to candidates without a bachelor’s degree with significant laboratory management experience
  • Demonstrated experience with procurement and logistics support
  • Competency in computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) required
  • Experience with aseptic technique and ability to weigh-out, prepare, and aliquot media, reagents, and compound stock solutions
  • Experience coordinating laboratory moves and/or expansion is highly desirable
  • The ability and desire to maintain a professional working relationship with all staff, contractors, and vendors
  • A proven ability to be highly productive in a fast-paced work environment with excellent attention to detail
  • Must be a self-starter demonstrating initiative, a positive attitude, and the ability to work in an independent and organized manner
  • A sense of adventure and excitement to help build a successful biotech company and work in a highly dynamic research environment
