Cyteir Therapeutics seeks a skilled and motivated Ph.D. Scientist to join the Translational Research team to help advance the development of our small molecule oncology portfolio. This Scientist will report to the Director of Translational Research and will be a key contributor to the implementation of our clinical development and biomarker strategy. The ideal candidate will have expertise in cancer biology, and experience with clinical stage oncology programs.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Key contributor to the translational research team, with broad responsibility helping us make novel discoveries to advance our pipeline assets, including our lead clinical program CYT-0851
  • Develop and implement differentiated biomarker strategies for our clinical trials based on emerging preclinical and clinical data, including both patient selection and target engagement biomarkers
  • Oversee execution of biomarker strategy, including assay development, vendor selection, patient sample kit development, and lab manual authorship
  • Collaborate with clinical operations and bioinformatics teams to build and maintain infrastructure enabling rapid biomarker testing of clinical samples, and organize and analyze clinical biomarker data
  • Communicate progress and discoveries to internal colleagues including clinical, preclinical, and project teams
  • Identify and recommend new and emerging technologies with clinical applications, and act as point of contact to CRO’s and outside vendors
  • Identify and act as point of contact with relevant key opinion leaders and academic collaborators
  • Author biomarker sections of clinical regulatory documents, including IND, clinical protocol, IB, lab manual, and CSR

Job Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in biological sciences with 7+ years of relevant experience, including translational experience with clinical stage oncology programs
  • Broad knowledge of cancer biology required, with expertise in synthetic lethality, the DNA damage repair field, or hematological malignancies preferred
  • Direct experience collaborating with clinical and clinical operations teams to develop, implement, and manage the biomarker strategy and data analysis of a phase 1/2 oncology clinical trial
  • Experience with clinical implementation of NGS technologies is essential, and familiarity with pathway analysis and bioinformatic data analysis is a plus
  • Familiarity with liquid biopsy assays, including flow-cytometry, ctDNA, and circulating tumor cells
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements for clinical biomarker assay and companion diagnostic usage, with direct experience interacting with regulatory agencies preferred
  • Detail-oriented, self-motivated team player, with the ability to work independently
  • Well organized and able to maintain detailed records of both internal and external experimental work
  • Ability to communicate clearly and decisively in an open, timely manner
  • A sense of adventure and excitement to help build a successful company and work in a highly dynamic team environment
